Congratulations to everyone involved in the Rakinui production of Animal Farm. It was tremendous seeing the team work develop and the perseverance through the many challenges of learning the lines, the music, the choreography, the drama, the techniques for mask making and much more. The Animal Farm production was of a very high standard for Primary School and is a credit to you all. Thank you once again to Mike Friend (acting), Tony Geddes (mask and costume creation), Pete Evans (original music) and Fleur de Thier (dance and movement), our numerous parent helps and all our Rakinui teaching and support staff for your dedication and commitment to this project. LPS ran 6 performances over the two performance days with our children stepping up each time. We have set up a display at the school entrance of the wonderful masks the reception TV screen has some excellent photographs on display.

Tēnā koutou, nau mai, haere mai.
We are wrapping up the arts focus this term after such a variety of learning experiences for our children, from art workshops and artist in residence, to Rāpaki visits, from the Art Auction to Aupaki fest, from Cultural Festival and wearable arts to the Animal Farm production. We know that the Takaroa floor are looking forward to performing their dance that encompasses the volcano that formed the crater of the harbour, the water washing in, the naming of the Whakaraupo, and an interpretation of the Tamatea Pōkai Whenua story. This will be performed on the first Friday of Term 4, 18th October, 2:15pm.
For term 4, teachers are developing learning programmes focused around health and technology. The Life Education truck is back early in the term, we have our school and zone athletics sports, children are involved in the Aupaki speech competition and Music Festival and we know the year 8's are looking forward to their Wellington end of year 8 camp. Please note that Wednesday 23 October is our school photos date and that Thursday 14th November (day before Show day) is a teacher only day. Term 4 starts on Monday 14th of October.
Teachers have a teacher only day on Monday where we are learning more about the 'Pause, breath, smile' programme to support our school initiatives around wellbeing. We look forward to implementing 'pause, breath, smile into the school next term.

The school newsletter is emailed to all families and linked onto the school facebook page weekly.
I hope everyone manages to get some time with family over the term break. See you all back for the start of term 4!
