In Raupo we are learning to draw cakes like the artist Wayne Thiebaud.

We watched some videos that taught us how to pencil sketch a one-level cake with a slice cut out, plus icing and a candle on the top. Many of the Raupo students extended this idea and drew a five-story cake, a wedding cake, a space cake, a cat cake, a car cake or a rainbow coloured cake. We began working with pastels and learnt about light and shade. It's fun to draw fancy cakes, but it makes us hungry for delicious real cake!
