Principal's Message

Brendan Wright —

Kia ora koutou e te whānau

Welcome back everyone to the new school year and term 1.  The children have settled back into their learning spaces with a positive and exciting vibe within the school.

A very warm welcome to new parents, families and children.  We look forward to presenting welcome to Lyttelton Primary School Certificates at next Friday's school assembly. These start at 9:15am every second Friday and all are welcome.  Come and enjoy a coffee before hand made by one of our young baristas from our own 'Screamin Bean Coffee Company'!

Welcome again to our new deputy principal, Jenny Felton, Beccy Shirley teaching in Raupo and Rowena McNabb as a new teacher in Harakeke.

Staff have worked hard to prepare the school for the new year which included two full teacher only days.  All staff have also refreshed their first aid certificates.

We had a successful welcome back evening for parents, caregivers and whānau on Wednesday where teachers introduced themselves and their specific roles in the school, the curriculum focus for the year was outlined and parents spent time with teachers in the learning spaces.  Much of what was shared about curriculum is available to parents on our website.  Please visit the curriculum menu above.

Thank you for your patience while intersection improvements are being made on Oxford Street.  Please continue to be especially mindful at drop off and pick up times when you park. No double parking please!

Next week you will be emailed a link to select times for booking a learning conference with your child/rens teachers. These are an important way to set up the year for success.

We have reminded all children to have and wear their sunhats at school next week.  Children without hats will be supervised on the wooden seating area on Monday during their break times.

A friendly reminder that school is open for children from 8:30am.  Any children arriving prior to this time will be required to wait on the wooden seats outside. This is part of our legal responsibilities for supervision only from 8:30am and also to allow time for teachers to complete preparation, meetings and arrangements for learning programmes.

Please don't hesitate to make a time to visit teachers and my door is always open.

Have an enjoyable weekend.

Ka kite ano
