Kia ora koutou e te whānau
And so we come to the last newsletter of 2024!
In true Lyttelton fashion it’s been a busy but rewarding fortnight as we work our way to the end of the year with events including; LAF Drama and Music Performances, Peer Mediator Training, Year 6 Technology Induction, Final Kapa Haka session, Army Band Christmas Performance, Teacher Only Day, New Entrant Visits, Meet 2025 teacher, School Pool Party and End of Year Assembly.
PB4L Pool Party - swimming, a juicy and candy cane...lots of fun!
No wonder there are a number of tired faces out there (...both young and not so young…) who I know will be looking forward to a well deserved break when school finishes tomorrow at midday.
Reporting...As we wrap up the year, report comments for Literacy, Mathematics and General Comment were shared via Hero this week. If you have any questions regarding your child’s end of year report please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
Stationery - We’ve teamed up with OfficeMax to make your back to school shop super easy. Your child’s class list is already loaded. Just go to myschool.co.nz. Simply add your details, check that you want everything on the list, then click and confirm - and OfficeMax will get your delivery underway.
Start of 2025… To support transitions, we’ll again hold Hauora Hui (wellbeing conferences) on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th February between 9am - 3pm. These 20-minute meetings allow families to connect with new homeroom teachers, update any information and help us tailor learning environments to meet each child’s needs. Bring in your child's stationery at the same time. We encourage all families to book, including virtual hui if you’re away. To book a hui visit the HERO app - bookings will be open over the summer break, closing on 31st January at 3pm.
Whānau Support...Please be in touch with me if you require support over the holiday period. The Mana Ake service continues to be available to support tamariki and their whānau throughout the holidays.
And finally… A heartfelt thank you to our amazing community for all your support this year, whether through volunteering, assisting on trips and camps or sharing your expertise, we truly value your contributions.
To our hardworking staff, your dedication to our kura is incredible. While you deserve a well-earned break, I know you're already looking ahead to the exciting opportunities 2025 will bring.
Thank you too to our School Board for your unwavering support and behind-the-scenes work that helps make Lyttelton School such a special place.
And finally, to our wonderful tamariki—thank you for making this year so enjoyable and special. Time truly flies when we're having fun!
Wishing you all a happy, healthy holiday. Meri Kirihimete!
Ngā mihi nui,
Jenny
