Principals Message

Brendan Wright —

Kia ora e te whānau. Warm welcome to school to Jake, Noah, Hannah and Isabelle!

Congratulations to Lada from Totara for receiving a Principal's Award at today's assembly for the way you consistently demonstrate our school values and take initiative in all you do at school. Ka mau te wehi.

As always it is fabulous seeing so many children recognised through the learning space certificates for the many ways they are practising and demonstrating the school values.  Check out the proud faces in today's photos.

Well done to all involved in the Winter Tournament on Wednesday. LPS had 3 netball and 2 football teams entered. Huge congratulations to our netball team through to the Canterbury Finals.  Find out more here.

NZEI Te Riu Roa, on behalf of its members are currently in mediation with the Ministry of Education for collective agreement negotiations.  Teachers are tasked with doing their very best to support tamariki to 'thrive today and be ready for tomorrow.' I admire and respect the ability and skill of our teachers to manage the complex and challenging demands of the profession.

Please see the notice here from our Board of Trustees and in school bags tonight.

Thank you once again to the Family Hub, Scorpio Books, Rita Norris, Ruth Connor, Katherine Cottier, Melissa Winfield, Amber Moke and Joanna Grochowicz for your involvement in our Book Week next week.  Please be sure to peruse the flyer in schoolbags tonight.

We are pleased to  announce Monica Jack's appointment as a fixed term teacher  in Totara while Eve takes up maternity leave from week 9 term 3 through to the end of term 4.  Welcome to the teaching team Monica!

Reminder to please be aware that the entrance gate now has a 'child proof' opening/closing mechanism which will be too high for some children to reach. If your child is entering the school gate after 9am they may need assistance to open the gate.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Kia pai tō rā whakatā

Brendan
