Well done all touch teams participating in the Aupaki Touch Rugby module held each Thursday afternoon between 3:30pm and 5:00pm. Lyttelton has 2 year 1/2 teams, 1 year 3/4 team, 1 year 5/6 team and 1 year 7/8 team. It has been great to see our teams progress in their skills over the last few weeks. There are two more Thursdays of touch.
Thank you to Fred Tunnicliffe for coming in to school this week to present Niwa with his art work selected as a favourite by the children for the 'children's choice' award from the Art Auction. Niwa's name was drawn out to receive this art work to take home. Congratulations Niwa.
We were fortunate to have been invited to attend the 're-opening' of Ripapa to the public on Wednesday and take 15 children along. Children experienced learning more about mahinga kai and the stories from Ngāti Wheke about the original pa site. They also had DOC talk with them and Fort Jervois and the cannons. Hon Eugenie Sage, Minister of Conservation was on hand to answer some questions from the students. Thank you to Yvette Couch-Lewis, Maui, Brett Lee and Kopa Lee and Ngāti Wheke and the Department of Conservation for including us. Find out more in this student article and catch up on the latest article in stuff news and on TVNZ.
