The Banks Peninsula Conservation Trust (BPCT) and Lyttelton Port Company (LPC) would like to invite you and your family to join us on a planting day to help restore our native vegetation at the Port Saddle.

The Port Saddle sits on the eastern ridgeline of Lyttelton, next to Urumau Reserve. BPCT and LPC have a long-term partnership to create a place for community recreational use, ecological protection, and enhancement of the indigenous flora and fauna. This event is part of Conservation Week 2021 and will contribute to the long-term goals of ecological restoration.

When: Sunday 19 September anytime between 10 am-3 pm.

Location: Port Saddle: access is through Urumau Reserve at the end of Foster Terrace in Lyttelton. Meet either at the corner of London and Oxford Street, at 9.45 am, or at the entrance to the Port Saddle site.

General Information:

• Level 2 protocols apply – we will have a QR code so people can scan in.
• Wear clothing and footwear suitable for off-trail outdoors. Long sleeves are advisable. Tramping or sport shoes are great.
• Hat, sunscreen, water, and food for the day.
• Bring your own gloves.
• There’s no toilet on-site – the closest is the public toilet at Lyttelton Info Centre Oxford St, Lyttelton.
• It’s a lovely site but it can be chilly as it is exposed to the easterly wind. It is wise to bring a windproof layer/raincoat whatever the weather.
• If wet this event will be postponed to Sunday 26 September.
