Kia ora Koutou

Many of you will already be aware of the NZEI advising that primary principals and teachers have voted to strike on Wednesday 15th August 2018, from 7.00am to 7.00pm.

The Board has carefully considered whether we would be able to provide adequate supervision for our students during the strike. We have looked at the number of support and other staff who would be available, and have found we could not guarantee being able to provide a safe environment for the day. As a consequence we have made the decision to close Lyttelton Primary School on the 15th August 2018.

We have not taken this decision lightly and fully understand the impact it may have on our community, however the health and safety of our tamariki is the main concern.

The MOE and the NZEI are involved in mediation, and if there is any update to the above situation we will let you know.
