'She Can Code'

Rachel Ono —

Five girls from our weekly Code Club went to a ‘She Can Code’ event as part of Techweek this week. This event was held to celebrate girls and women who code.

Five girls from Code Club at Lyttelton Primary School got to go to ‘She Can Code’ after school. They went on Wednesday.   At She Can Code they had computer science, Sphero and Scratch and an internet connected garden. We had lots of fun.

When we arrived at the Epic building we didn't know what to expect. But inside it was a tecky’s dream. There was Scratch, a coding program to make objects move and make noises. Another station was where you had an ipad and you could control a ball and go thought a obstacle course. Yet there was another activity, an internet connected garden which monitored the moisture of the soil. Then it was shown on a big screen there are graphs to show when to water the plants. I went to all of them. It was really fun, I will surely do it next time.
