Raupo had a fantastic time at camp, the weather was perfect, the activities were challenging  and everyone had a wonderful time. We lived all three values - Respect for the instructors, Empathy for each other and loads of Perseverance.

We went by bus to a farm and then we walked to a gate. People from the camp met us and told us how to cross a river and keep safe while at camp. We unlocked the gate and started walking on the farm. It took an hour to get to camp and we walked on rocks and grass and had to cross 10 rivers!!

We got to camp and we had cookies and chips. Then we saw our beds in the bunk rooms. I slept on the top bunk.

My first activity was abseiling. It was very scary!! We had climb down two times then we had lunch.

In the afternoon we did tree climbing, I got to the top of the tree. Then we had dinner. It was yummy fish and chips. We went to bed at 10:00pm. It was noisy and took a while to get to sleep,

The next day we did air rifle shooting, archery and kayaking. Brendan visited. We had lunch and then Brendan and everyone went down a long waterslide.

The last day we had to clear up our bunk rooms, clean up the camp and then we could play for a tiny bit on the very big flying fox. It was bigger than the waterslide!

Then we hopped on the bus and we didn’t have to walk out. It took one hour and a half hours to get back to school. My dad was there to meet me at school . We walked home and we went swimming at the pool.

It was a great camp.

After a lot of walking

I have an urge to go to the

Summer camp was probably the best,

Although on the walk our feet were put to the test,

The students were convinced that it was all fun,

But the teachers knew there was learning to be done.

We learned about air rifles and archery too,

And on the zipline through the air we flew,

Wednesday til Friday with temperature in the 30s,

Camp sure tested physical abilities.

There was great excitement about play games at night,

And “Spotlight”was hiding to avoid being found by torchlight,

Card games inside and staying up late,

Boy, summer camp really was great!
