Kiwi Can at LPS

Jenny Felton —

Values teaching part of weekly learning at LPS.

Kiwi Can is an energy-packed primary school programme, aimed at children aged 5 to 12 years. It teaches values such as integrity and respect, helps build resilience and delivers fun-filled learning to schools all around the country.

At Lyttelton our students are lucky to participate in a weekly session with our Kiwi Can leaders enjoying a positive, uplifting environment that encourages self belief and confidence.

Term 2 has seen a focus on integrity.  Our students seem to have a firm grasp on the concept of integrity and its meaning of “Doing the right thing, even though people may not be watching”.

Next term there will be a focus on resilience.  As you’ll agree, it is very important, especially at the moment for our City and Tamariki.During the first three weeks, we’ll be looking at “Understanding Emotions”, followed by “Self-control/Self-discipline” and finishing the term off with “Dealing with challenges”. Weekly sessions will be very informative and lots of fun for our students…plus three more Catchphrases will be shared! Kiwi Can will also be supporting us with our community project of checking and setting the traps in our local area during term 3.

Thanks Kiwi Can for continuing to share your wonderful programme with our students.
