Orton Bradley Camp 2018

Jono and Tayne —

On Monday the 19th of March Totara went to Orton Bradley for their camp.

At Orton Bradley we did all sorts of fun and interesting activities such as orienteering, coasteering, abseiling, high ropes and a few more!

We had to set up and sleep in our own tents as well as cooking our own food with our own materials which we had bought from the super market.

We showed perseverance with the raft making by working together as a team to build a raft with tubes and ropes to carry 5-6 people around a marker without falling apart.  We learnt how to kayak and it was fun playing piano keys where everyone had to hold onto each others' kayaks and two people had to walk across the keys.  We were allowed to jump off the Diamond Harbour wharf and Cameron did a big manu!

We loved the mountain biking track which had really good berms and the big dipper.  The instructors from Adventure Specialties were amazing as were the parents who gave up their time to support us on all the activities as well as helping us with the cooking and clean up.

The high ropes on the last day were definitely a highlight for everyone.  It was especially fun doing the flying kiwi and heaps of us managed to get to the top of the giant's ladder.  We were really lucky with the weather and look forward to going again in 2019!
