Farewell to our Wonderful Year 6 leavers

Nic Brown —

We held a lovely assembly to honour and farewell our Year 6 leavers on Friday!

Friday was a very special day as we said goodbye and good luck to our exceptional group of 2024 Year 6 tamariki.

There are many measures of success at Macandrew Bay kura such as sporting success, academic success, personal growth, and also showing our school values of: respect, responsibility, honesty, caring and kindness, passion for learning and independence

I want to thank our Year 6 tamariki for consistently showing our school values in all that they do and I want to congratulate them on their leadership this year.  Each and every one of you has stepped up to lead in many different areas and ways.

For our Year 6 leavers they'll be able to look back and remember that they the finished Macandrew Bay School in a leap year, that Donald Trump was re-elected as US president, the Paris Summer Olympics dazzled the world, it was the year of the Dragon, lots of amazing sporting highlights including the recent golden 48 hours: the America's Cup win- The Black Caps conquered India- The White Ferns went from arguably worst to most definitely first, The Silver ferns won the Constellation Cup and of course who could forget the year that we had our first school production in a long while... All Systems Go!

Congratulations to Ava Cooke and Laurie Armstrong who won the Kindness Cup in 2024 and Rosie Broughton and Felix Dadley who won the Robert George Memorial Cup for their service to Macandrew Bay School.

It is always so sad to say goodbye to our Year 6 leavers and their whānau. To our wonderful parents, caregivers and whānau who have been a huge part of our school community for 6 years and more years for some... Ka mihi ki a koutou. To our amazing Year 6 leaders- We hope that we have prepared you to leave Macandrew Bay School feeling: like you have been supported to set goals and that you have been able to take action to achieve success and progress in your own way.  We hope you have experienced a rich, broad curriculum that has been engaging, motivating, has helped you to foster creativity, be innovative and develop a lifelong passion for learning.  We hope that we have provided you with a safe, inclusive and stimulating place to learn. Finally, we hope that you feel connected and that you belong to this very special kura and community for life.

I wanted to finish these words: Behind you, all your memories, Before you all your dreams, Around you all who love you, Within you all you need.
