Be Brainy! By Sam McKee

Christine Ward —

What does your brain do?

The Brain

Have you ever wondered why your nose is itchy and automatically move your hand? The brain is one of the most important organs in the human body that controls this movement

The brain is about the size of two clenched fists with your palms facing towards each other. It is located in the skull that protects it. The brain has six parts. The frontal lobe that controls speech. The temporal lobe is in charge of processing and retaining information. The parietal lobe that controls sight, taste, hearing, touch and smell. The cerebellum is in charge of movement and balance. The occipital lobe controls vision and memory, and the brain stem that keeps you alive by sending messages around the body.

The brain can send messages to move your toes in ten milla seconds later by sending chemical and electrical signals right down through the brainstem and the spinal cord to get to your toes.

The brain is one of the most important organs in the human body. The brain's job is to manage your emotions, send messages to the muscles so you can move. It tells you when to breathe so you don't have to think about it.

The brain is an important organ because it controls your breathing so you can go to sleep and not have to think about breathing. It also controls all of your body parts.
