Macandrew Bay School Newsletter - 1 March 2024

Kia ora koutou,

A big thank you to the team of helpers that came to the Working Bee last night.  We managed to get a good amount of weeding done, sweeping and a coat of fresh paint on the interior walls in our old Dental Clinic.  The old dental clinic (we really need a new name for this!) is school/board owned and that means it is the responsibility of our kura to manage and maintain this space on our very tight budget.  We are excited to be able to utilise this space more this year instead of it being a storage space for old furniture.

Next week we kick off Move it March (see article) and Kōwhai and Rātā are off to Orokonui for a special day out with Tahu and the team there.

Toroa class are excited for todays first Whānau Assembly- we look forward to seeing you there if you can make it this afternoon at 2pm.

Kia pai tō rā whakatā/ Have a great weekend!

Nic

This term, we are fortunate enough to visit our beautiful Orokonui Ecosanctuary (Te Korowai o Mihiwaka) out at Blueskin Bay

by Mel Gaul

It was wonderful having Tahu, from The Orokonui Ecosanctuary, visit us here at school in Term 4 last year. We learnt more about the special plants, trees, flowers and creatures that are part of our kura. During March, all classes will get to visit the Ecosanctuary to continue to build on their previous learning and connect with our current learning this year. See more important information below:

COVID- What to do? and other illness

by Nic Brown

We recommend you take the time to read through the expectations we have about illness. It is important we take a sensible, caring approach of not coming to school sick. We are finding it harder each year to get relievers for sick staff and we want to minimise the spread of sickness in classes.
