FANTASTIC WEEKEND IN THE POOL FOR MACKENZIE COLLEGE STUDENTS!

Mackenzie College —

Over the weekend, five students from the Mackenzie Swim Club showcased their swimming skills at the 2024 Canterbury West Coast Junior Championship's in Rolleston.

Munro Kerr, Eden Hawkins, Sarah Ross, Katie Cormack, and William Cassie delivered an exceptional performance in session one, achieving 12 out of 12 new personal best times, setting a remarkable tone for the weekend.

Highlights included Munro Kerr clinching a Bronze medal in the 400m freestyle with a 23.34-second personal best, and Eden Hawkins securing a Finalist ribbon for 7th place in the 200m Breaststroke with an impressive 11.06-second improvement.

Session two on Sunday continued the success with the team achieving 8 out of 11 personal best times, including Munro Kerr's 7th place finish in the 200m Freestyle and 8th place in the 50m Backstroke.

Session three wrapped up the weekend on a high note with 12 out of 14 new personal best times. Notable achievements included William Cassie dropping 6.43 seconds in his 100m Freestyle, Sarah Ross shaving off 7.27 seconds in her 100m Breaststroke, Katie Cormack improving by 9.76 seconds in her 100m Breaststroke, and Eden Hawkins impressively cutting down her time by 14.29 seconds in the 200m Freestyle.

Congratulations to these determined students on their outstanding swimming performance. Their results truly reflect their hard work and dedication. As we look forward, the next Mackenzie Swim Club event on the horizon is the Ashburton Splash, taking place on March 9th and 10th. This upcoming meet will feature some of our senior students showcasing their skills in the pool.
