Year 5 - 6 (Kāretu) - School Life Scoop - Week 7
Teaching Team: Mrs Whitfield, Mr. Oliver, Mrs. Mitchell and Miss Parkin
We had a fantastic trip to Margaret Mahy Playground and Tūranga|Central Library last Thursday, to extend learning in our Forces inquiry. The playground offered the opportunity to observe the effects of lots of different forces while we played. At the library, we saw the book sorting machine that works 24/7, sorting up to 2000 books a day as they are returned to the Library. We also learnt about Auahatanga, the creative space on the top floor of the Library.
We have also enjoyed hosting ASB GetWise Financial Literacy sessions, where Jeff from ASB taught us about saving to get the things we want, and about different ways to earn money.
We've been working on writing our own retelling of the pūrakau Te Ika a Māui |The Fish of Māui, developing our skills in using paragraphs and descriptive language. In maths we are learning about rounding and estimation to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000.
