Vivata's Vivastop Studio - Creative Workshop
Last Friday four of our Year Nine students visited Vivata's Vivastop Studio, a creativity workshop in Wellington. Dylan, Max, Jason and Sithum have formed a team to compete in the NZ Aquabot competition, where they build a submersible robot to take part in a series of challenges related to marine conservation.
Building an aquabot teaches basic skills in design and encourages students to explore naval architecture and marine and ocean engineering principles. It also teaches basic science, electrical concepts, tool safety and technical procedures.
The team will continue to work on their aquabot at school, attend another workshop at Vivastop and then compete in the regional competition on the 20th of October. If successful they may get to go to the National competition with a chance to win a trip to the World competition in the United States.
We'll keep you updated with the Mana College team's progress.
