Mahinawa Stream Planting

Yesterday the yr12/13 Outdoor Ed class, plus four students from the Mana Goes Green environmental group, teamed up with Ngāti Toa iwi, the Porirua City Council, Porirua School and other members of the public to help plant out the Mahinawa Stream for a second year in a row. The weather was perfect, the Maramataka in sync and the community spirit was alive. Our crew stayed on throughout the day to help with placing weed mats and wind/ pukeko guards. There are plans afoot to take on stage 3 next year further up the stream. Our students were awesome! They were great ambassadors for Mana College, and can take pride in giving back to the taiao and helping Mahinawa get back to it's former glory. Once again I was super proud of them.
