'Tautua i le alofa, manuia le lumana’i – Serve in love for a blessed future'.

Niva Sao research:

Samoa, often referred to as the Heart of Polynesia, is located about halfway between Hawaii and New Zealand. It consists of two main islands, Upolu and Savai'i, and several smaller islands. The capital city, Apia, is situated on the island of Upolu.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Samoa is its vibrant culture and rich traditions. The Samoan way of life, known as "Fa'a Samoa," emphasizes the importance of family, community, and respect for elders. Traditional Samoan dance, music, and art are integral parts of their cultural heritage and are celebrated through various festivals and ceremonies.

Samoa has a population of around 200,000 people. Samoans have many wonderful proverbs that reflect their values and way of life. Like "O le ala i le pule o le tautua," means "The path to leadership is through service." This highlights the importance Samoans place on serving others. Another beautiful Samoan saying is, "E le sili le ta'i na i lo le tapua'i," which means "No one achieves success without support." This shows how much Samoans value community and helping each other.

Samoans are very proud of their traditions. They love to share their traditional dances, music, and crafts with visitors. The warmth and hospitality of the Samoan people make everyone feel welcome.

Cultural Leaders: Mereana and Meretiaho

Monday morning we had a parade ceremony for the flag raising to start off the week. It was heaps of fun. We had some music and good vibes, walking from the marae up to the front of e block.

On Monday and Wednesday we also had some workshops happening down at the courts, there was a TikTok station, who can make the fastest ole station and also an art station. It was a lot of fun to see the kids participating in our workshops that we had at lunch and it was cool to see kids engaging in the Samoan language week.

Every morning we had allocated rolls to some Samoan students to say the word of the day and say a prayer on the intercom for our school .
