Services Academy 12 Day Induction

Harley Nuku —

NZ Army base - Waiouru

Our services academy champions are into day 9 of their 12 day induction camp at the NZ Army base in Waiouru. Its has been a mentally and physically demanding course as our squad train and learn with the NZ soldiers. They have completed a series of physically and mentally exhausting tasks while developing enriching life lessons and skills that create champions and warriors.

Today they undertook an event called the longest day, where students were pushed to their extremes. This event is not for the faint hearted nor for the weak and while there are many adults that probably could not complete this course, our Mana students took it like champs as all Mana students are, and showed grit, resilience and mental toughness to get through it. Throughout the 9 days, they have been fatigued, exhausted, sleep deprived, and smashed with difficult tasks to push them to their extremes.

Mana academy entered this course as nervous and intimidated young students but have developed into proud, confident and resilient young adults. They have learned NZDF ethos and values designed to set them up for success in life and overcome any obstacle life throws at them.

As we draw near the end of the course, Mana academy will return home experiencing the life of a soldier, what it takes to be a champion, and mentally focused young adults. There is a saying in the NZDF “if it doesn’t challenge you it won’t change you” We do hard things to be better versions of ourselves and for those that depend on us
