Notice of Asbestos Removal Work
To Whom It May Concern,
Clear Air Asbestos Management Ltd a licensed Asbestos Removalist (WorkSafe Class A and B licence: number RB16120244 and RA16100156 will be undertaking removal work of some Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) from Mana College – Block 3
There will be A Class removal work being conducted between the hours of 7:30AM to 6:00PM on 15 April 2024 and is expected to be completed by 28 April 2024. This work may need to be re-scheduled in the event of bad weather.
There will be B Class removal conducted following this, which is planned to finish 3 May 2024.
WorkSafe NZ was notified on 12 March 2024 that this licensed asbestos removal work is to be undertaken.
As we continue the excavation works, there is potential for further asbestos containing material to be found, and any further removal works will be carried out following the same processes, ensuring all H&S requirements are met. The excavation work is due to be completed by July.
Mana College management have been consulted about the nature and timing of this work, together with the safety measures to be used.
The following safety measures will be put in place and maintained for the duration of this project:
• Signs, barriers and/or temporary fencing will be installed
• Class A removal will be conducted in an enclosed shrink-wrapped tent (smoke test to ensure integrity), and wet decontamination units set up inside the enclosure
• Third party will issue an A class clearance certificate
• Class B removal process will then begin under Class B conditions with dry decontamination and waste storage area
• PVA solution or water will be applied to asbestos containing materials to prevent airborne asbestos fibres dust (as required).
• Asbestos containing materials will not be broken, where possible.
• Asbestos containing material will be wrapped on site and disposed of at an approved tip site
• Air monitoring at the work site boundary will be in place for the duration of the work. If asbestos fibres above the allowable safe limit are detected, work will cease immediately and corrective measures applied
• An independent party will carry out an inspection of the site on completion of the work, and issue a clearance certificate
