Yr 12/13 Outdoor Ed
From Wednesday 26 to Friday 28 July last week our Yr 12/13 Outdoor Ed class took part in their second camp of the year. The focus of the camp was for students to continue with their environmental action projects and gain further insight/inspiration by visiting various sites around Porirua and Wellington.
Our students mixed in with students from four other schools including Te Kura Māori o Porirua, Tawa & Kapiti Colleges, and Wellington High School. We took part in a powhiri and stayed at the beautiful Horouta Marae in Aotea.
It was a busy camp including; native planting at Whitireia Park, constructing bee hives, making rat traps, seeing the Northern Landfill tip face (i.e. 100 meter deep rubbish pit), engaging with the flora and fauna at Zealandia, interacting with a 3D Navigation experience at Carter Observatory, and appreciating the local artwork on display at Pataka Museum.
