Principals Address

John Murdoch —

The final NCEA results have now been posted to schools.  Upon reading these thoroughly, I wanted to congratulate all students who had achieved NCEA at levels 1,2 and 3, including UE.

NCEA has great potential to support all students to achieve important qualifications that young people hold for life.

I wanted to particularly congratulate students who have achieved an excellent endorsement in NCEA.  Two weeks ago, in our full assembly, we acknowledged these students.

Level 1: Kennedi Box, Bhea Fiedalan, Sethini Goonewardene

Level 2: Pirihira Balt, Heidi Brian, Georgia Ellis, Jade Hanrahan, Isabella Stratford

Level 3: Maia Leonard, Lily Rogers

Upgraded Level 1: Jaelah Bryce

You will see from the photo, that our young women are achieving highly at Mana College.  At levels 1 and 2, the school achieved above the national average. Females achieved 12.5% above the national average at level 1, and 5% above the national average for females at level 2.

Of course, students who achieve in NCEA also tend to flourish in other areas.

Yesterday, the senior girl's Waka Ama team organised a Golf fundraising event for their trip to Rarotonga in November. Led by Steve Haerewa, these young leaders organised, facilitated, promoted and networked their way to a highly successful day at Titahi Bay Golf Club.

Many thanks to all our principal sponsors who made the day possible as well.
