Senior Prizegiving

This week Mana College hosted our senior prizegiving to celebrate the academic achievements of our Year 11-13s. Thank you to all whānau, VIPs, guests, staff and students who made this night a huge success. As Barbara Edmonds remarked at the event, it is noticeable to see the rising community support of this event and of the school as we build from strength to strength. Part of this success is to be able to acknowledge the huge talent we have here in our community, and prize giving was certainly the time for that!

Congratulations particularly to our Year 13 students who graduated. This group is the last 'pre covid' group who will vaguely remember what life was like at Mana College before 2020. They would have also had to deal with the huge level of disruptions in year 10,11 and 12 through their NCEA journey. However, many of them have come through these barriers and achieved highly.

I would also like to acknowledge our staff and students who contributed to prizegiving. We are very lucky to have a group of talented and committed kaiako at Mana College. These staff support the achievement, health and well being of all our young people not only in the classroom but on the sports fields, the stage, and in various experiences around the community both locally and internationally.

I particularly want to acknowledge the group who are leaving at the end of this year including Laura Loach, Jacs Nordon, Jenny Collett, Kaylene Riley, Awhi Edwards, and Barry Clarkson, as this group of teachers together have served Mana College for over 90 years. We plan to celebrate their service to the college at the end of this term in a number of ways.

Congratulation to our top students in Year 11-13

  • Year 11 - Sethini Goonewardene
  • Year 12 - Georgia Ellis
  • Dux for 2023 - Maia Leonard and Lilly Rogers
  • Head students for 2024 - Sir Madix Bailey, Georgia Ellis, Pirihira Balt and Jaidyn Fuimaono
