Newsletter Week 2

John Murdoch —

This week we are still riding on the wave of celebrations of our production Moana.  Last week's five shows, including two matinees, brought in a collective audience of 1600 who enjoyed our talented young people who sang and danced to this Disney Classic.

I carried this celebration to full school assembly on Wednesday, and explained to our school that this production motivates us to think about our future in positive ways.  As Moana (played by the amazing Alo) demonstrated 'I'm not a princess, I'm a daughter of the chief.'

All our young people descend from the greatness of their whakapapa.  We remember this in the original translation of 'tamariki.'

Certainly this theater has taken the school on an important journey of realisation, particularly in regards to what is possible at Mana College when we have the courage to pursue our dreams.

The trick is finding the ways to achieving greatness day to day through teamwork, planning, resolving differences and inclusion.

Good luck to all coaches, managers and players who begin their winter season this weekend.  Win, lose or draw - We are Mana!
