YEAR 10 COREQUISITE INFORMATION

Janine Laumua —

The Corequisite Literacy & Numeracy exams are happening next week for ALL year 10 students. Please see attached an information booklet about the exams that contains a lot of helpful information. I recommend taking some time to sit down with your child to go through this booklet.

The exams are on:

Tuesday 10th Sept- Reading.

Wednesday 11th Sept- Numeracy.

Thursday 12th Sept- Writing.

*Starting at 10am each day.

For selected students the Te Reo Matatini and Te Pāngarau (Te Reo Māori equivalent) exams will take place on:

Friday 13th, Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th September. Staff will discuss with individual students timings for these exams.

All year 10 WĀ classes will have a base camp class in T block from Tuesday 10th to Thursday 12th where the exams will take place. The basecamp class is where students will also have their lunch and compulsory revision classes in the afternoons. Please note the exams will be run according to regular NZQA/ NCEA assessment conditions.

Basecamp classes: T1-10HR. T2-10OR. T3-10MN. T4-10AK. Please make sure your child knows which basecamp classroom they need to attend Tuesday through to Thursday.

Please note:

- Monday 9th and Friday 16th September are normal school days and start at 9am as usual.

- Normal school uniform is to be worn throughout the week.

Also attached are some updated (very user friendly) instructions on how to a) access the online practice exams and b) use Polly, which reads out exam questions to students. This is available to all students sitting the exams. To use Polly students just need to make sure they bring in their own corded headphones that they can attach to their device.

There are 3 very important steps your child needs to do before turning up to exams next week. Can you please help them with these steps?

1. Make sure your child is able to login in to NZQA. (see pg 6 in Handbook & NZQA login docs attached)

2. Make sure your child brings a fully charged device and that he can access the school wifi (Their WĀ teacher can help with this)

3. Check that your child has studied well and done some practice exams (see NZQA login doc attached.
