Using digital mapping tools at Mana
Kia ora, from Andy McMillan
I’m kaiako Geography and Social Studies at Mana. I’m writing to inform you that I use Google earth as a tool for learning in my classes and academies. It's a great resource to bring places and spaces into the classroom. I use it to develop critical thinking around issues such as the importance of place, sustainability and the interaction between natural and cultural environments (to name a few).
Google has changed its privacy setting and to use Google Earth in school we need to ensure that parents and caregivers are happy with this.
This is the purpose of this panui. If you would not like your child to use this mapping tool could you contact the school and we will ensure that they do not access it. If you are happy for them to use this tool then you don't need to do anything else.
