Visual Arts @ Mana
Here are two great examples of students succeeding in visual arts at Mana College. In Fig one we see a folio painted by Jade Hanrahan, at the beginning of the portfolio she is exploring traditional figurative painting, using traditional techniques such as charcoal and pastel. As the board develops she introduces new subject matter and conventions to provide a contemporary feel to the works. Hard to see in the photos but these paintings shimmer under light due to the metallic mediums Jade used in her later paintings. Ka pai Jade!
In fig two we see a folio submission painted by Tremaine Karaka exploring themes of graffiti and street art. This submission showcases the journey a graffiti artist acquiring skills and developing their style into something more involved. In the beginning we see lots of text heavy paintings (traditionally associated with graffiti) Tremaine then makes a smooth transition extending his ideas towards street art, through the inclusion of unique characters and new painting techniques. Ka pai Tremaine!
