Minecraft Competition

Cam Fraser —

Back in April this year the school had to adjust our timetable due to the effects of Covid-19. One exciting initiative that came out of this disruption was a group of students being involved in a Minecraft competition. INTERFACE Magazine ran a Minecraft Competition where entrants made creations that helped to “build a better future”.

Four Year 9 students - Ben Hosie, Mathias Kirwan, Braidyn Taitapanui and Anika Illingworth created an “Underground Farm”. The farm was space to grow kai for the community and was protected from abnormal weather conditions that might be caused by climate change. The team gave up many lunchtimes and after school to complete it. The standard and number of entries was very high, so competition was fierce. Out of all the secondary schools entered nationally the team placed 3rd overall!
