Te Mana o Kupe Shines at Secondary Schools Kapa Haka Regional Competition
We are thrilled to announce the outstanding achievements of Te Mana o Kupe, our school's Kapa Haka group, at the recent Secondary Schools Kapa Haka Regional competition held on the 23rd of June at Te Rauparaha Arena. Amongst a highly talented field of 11 schools, Te Mana o Kupe showcased their exceptional skills and dedication, securing an impressive array of awards.
The competition was fierce, with schools from across the region demonstrating their passion for Kapa Haka and Maori culture. Despite the tough competition, Te Mana o Kupe's hard work and commitment paid off, resulting in an outstanding performance that left an indelible mark on the judges and audience alike.
In the individual categories, Te Mana o Kupe excelled in multiple disciplines, highlighting their versatility and talent. Their achievements included placing 3rd for the waiata-a-ringa, 3rd for Te Reo Maori, 2nd for Poi, 1st for Haka, and 1st for Kākahu. These exceptional placements are a testament to the group's dedication to excellence and their passion for showcasing the richness of Maori culture.
Furthermore, we are incredibly proud to announce the remarkable performances by our student leaders. Mereana Solomon, the Female leader of Te Mana o Kupe, showcased her exceptional skills and was awarded 2nd place for Kaitātaki Wahine. Similarly, Reihana Kara, the Male leader, exhibited exceptional leadership and talent, securing 1st place for Kaitātaki Tāne. These achievements highlight the exemplary leadership qualities and dedication of our student leaders.
As the results were tallied, the anticipation grew, and the atmosphere was electrifying. When the final rankings were announced, Te Mana o Kupe emerged with a well-deserved 3rd place overall. This achievement is a testament to the group's collective efforts, tireless rehearsals, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
