I am a Pasifika Liaison Officer. I work exclusively with Pasifika students and their attendance and engagement. The work I do is to be a support person in school, to encourage our young pasifika learners & help the families in any shape or form. Currently regular pasifika attendance is low compared to other groups. So a reminder to send your child to school and that they have a positive attitude towards learning and engagement. If your child has excellence or aims for a positive outcome in class they will achieve.

Just a quick encouragement for our parents:

Our Parents have the saying of "We want the best for our kids" if anything " Act on it & Walk the talk. Don't give up on your kids when the going gets tough. They need you the most especially when things get too overwhelming. BE PRESENT at all times. Because of the meaning of my role "I want the best for your child".

ALL THINGS PASIFIKA There is so much happening within the school "All things Pasifika" - is Flourishing.
I would like to acknowledge & introduce our 2024 Cultural Leaders Mereana Solomon and Meretiaho Butler-Parata who will be working alongside myself + Karl Payne (Mr Payne). We have worked tirelessly to put things together that students & staff can get involved with for language weeks.

This year we have Language weeks where we will be celebrating throughout the year. During these language weeks we will encourage speaking the language, challenges during lunchtimes,  celebrations through Assembly & opening ceremonies as well and getting amongst the community celebrations. We will have our first Rotuman Language Week next week starting Monday, we will be celebrating that with the wider community down at Te Rauparaha Arena - Peace Memorial at 8am - Please feel free to come along and support our people.

Fa'afetai uma lava mo le faitau, fa'amolemole nofo fa'asalalau ma nofo fa'alogo mo mea uma Pasifika

Manuia,

Ramona
