Year 12 & 13 Big Day Out
A group of student leaders decided to organise a Year 12 & 13 Big Day out. Students lacked energy and motivation after the COVID-19 lockdown and found the transitions back to school difficult. We wanted to create a fund day out where students could spend the day together to gather momentum for the rest of 2020!
Organising a day like this for 160 students, is no small task but with the help of Compass Health, Te Rauparaha Arena, Porirua City council, teachers at Mana College and a string of volunteers, we have pulled it off!
The morning started with a karakia, followed by ice breakers and team competitions. We had a healthy morning tea thanks to Compass Health and broke into small groups for workshops on Music, Arts, Sports, Beauty and Wellbeing.
The highlight today was seeing all the Year 12 & 13 students together and smiling. The bonding as a group was our goal as student leaders, making connections that we will remember, far beyond this year.
Once again, thank you to everyone that helped to make this day a success.
