ACADEMIES AT MANA COLLEGE

Amanda Picken —

Academy time is an opportunity for students to work with a range of students across the school (from Year 9-13), supporting tuakana teina, and developing key skills and competencies that are crucial for our world.

Students have a choice of over 20 academies, which change each term depending on the time of year and events that may be happening in and around the college. While teachers are attached to academies, we encourage students to take a lead in their passions and be a part of new innovations and academy provision.

In 2019 academies run from 11.50-3.10, to enable deep learning and off site experiences. Some examples of academies that we have offered are: drone making, rockquest, high performance basketball, Japanese, Duke of Edinburgh, cheese making, coding, salon, Ki o Rahi, Polyfest, evolocity and much much more.
