Sports Update

Amy Robinson —

*Indoor Bowls*

Yesterday we attended the College Sport Wellington Indoor Bowls Championships.

Large amounts of enthusiasm, entertainment and energy filled Onepoto Hall. We took our largest team to the event with 8 pairs taking on the challenge.

We fought off a tough semi final against Silverstream to set up a Mana College Final.

Congratulations to Clayton and Te Maiohi who remained unbeaten throughout the day to become the Wellington Champions. Clayton Lee & Te Maiohi Tua Linkin Akania & Alfie Tanerau

Huge effort and congratulations to all of our players involved.

Hockey

We are well underway in the hockey season this year. The 1st XI have finished round one unbeaten with 5 wins and 2 draws. They are looking forward to the next 3 games where they will play the top 4 teams.

Our 2nd team is a combined group with 4 schools coming together to create a Porirua combined team. It’s great to see the combinations coming together and these players really enjoying hockey.

Massive Congratulations must go to Arliah Pointon who played her 50th 1st XI game last Friday. We are extremely proud and very grateful for the commitment, passion, leadership and skills that Arliah brings to Mana Hockey.

We also must congratulate 3 of our players for their selection into Wellington Representative teams.

Heidi Brian and Keira Noble-Shedlock have made the U18 team and will travel to Auckland for their national tournament in the first week of the holidays. Arihia Paea has made the U16 team and will travel to Hamilton in the second week of the holidays.
