#YouthQuake

John Murdoch —

“We are the movement, we are the YouthQuake"

A huge thanks to the following students who participated in the Integrated Youth Service Co-design workshop on Tuesday and Wednesday this week at Marareroa Marae - Zacch Te Tau, Phoeniz Taylor, Tevana Gray and Rawhinia Hekau.

Our students joined representation from all Colleges as well as a range of community organisations, youth groups, church groups. We easily achieved the diversity of perspectives we were looking for including Maori, Pacific LGBTQI, disability, marginalised, migrant, refugee, not in school, and not in employment.

A number of our students nominated themselves as speakers, to lead and share the thinking. They did a fantastic job. The feedback from stakeholders has been very positive and most were very impressed with the design thinking completed by participants.

Youth Panel

The DHB are now looking to establish a youth panel consisting of 8 participants. The purpose of the youth panel is to maintain a strong link between the design and implementation phases of this process. We received 24 nominations from participants at the co-design workshop. We are certain we will be able to establish the panel from this list. We anticipate participating in the panel will involve 2-4 hours a month. This will be mainly by way of meetings.

Where to from here

1. We will now look to develop the Model of Care. Included in this model of care is the costing and service design. The co-design thinking will be included in the model of care development.

2. We will need to look broadly at funding options, seeking input from a range of agencies.

3. Once this has been done we can start to think about procurement processes to commence establishment.

Evaluations

In case you are interested, I have attached copies of the co-design evaluation forms completed by participants.
