Samoan Language Week Celebrated in Style

John Murdoch —

Samoan language week was celebrated in full force at Mana College from 24-30 May this year. This year was led by Ms Hana Tusa and supported by a number of iaga and students who celebrated the Samoan culture with song, dance, language, sport and some professional development for staff. This year the theme Tapena sou ōso mo lau malaga' meaning ‘Prepare yourself a gift for your travels’ was the focus with many gifts of language and culture being celebrated throughout the week.

A group of parents met at the beginning of the week to support Ms Tusa. This group supported the celebration at the end of the week. They are meeting regularly to support a Fia Fia Night at the end of Term 3.
