I am Alysha, the new school-based nurse at Mana College. I am employed by Tu Ora Compass Health. I work Monday- Friday from 9am – 2pm.

I want students to feel that the nurse’s clinic is a safe place to come for any health-related questions or issues they have. I believe in empowering our youth to take responsibility for their health and would far rather be proactive, than reactive!

  • Respiratory conditions
  • Injuries• Sexual health
  • Mental health concerns
  • General health – medical issues that reception staff require medical input with
  • Period products
  • Wellness assessments

  • Self-referral from students
  • School Counsellors/Social Workers
  • Staff
  • Parents/caregivers
  • General Practitioner
  • Regional Public Health Nurses

• Verbal conversation with the nurse/doctor

• Walk in appointments.

The service that I am delivering through Tu Ora Compass Health, is confidential. Students are informed of their right to confidentiality and must also be informed of the exceptions to this, which includes, “three harms”: 

  • They intend to harm themselves· 
  • They intend to harm somebody else· 
  • They are being harmed by somebody

As a parent, I would like to reassure you that I always encourage the students to be speaking with am trusted adult at home. If you have any concerns about your child’s health please get in touch using the details above.

Finally, a reminder, if your child is unwell, as per the Government’s Covid 19 guidelines please keep them at home. It is vital that as our borders open up again, we are vigilant and do not become complacent.
