Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori - Kei Mana Kāreti

Ngahuia Madden —

E te tī, e te tā, ngā mihi mahana ki te whānau whānui o Mana Kāreti,

I tēnei wiki ka whakanui te Kāreti o Mana i te wiki motuhake arā Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori. This week we celebrated Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori. We did a few different things to celebrate the week.

On Tuesday the Yr. 9 & 10 cohorts took up the challenge of playing each other in Kī-o rahi.

On Thursday, we participated in Te Wā Tuku Reo. Te Wā Tuku Reo asked people to do something Māori - Sing, Read, Talk etc at 12pm on 14th of September. Te Wā Tuku Reo acknowledges 51 years since Ngā Tamatoa took the Māori Language Petition to Parliament. For our Te Wā Tuku Reo E Tipu E Rea teina did a haka at the front of our wharenui.

To finish off the week we came together at our celebration assembly on Friday Morning. Spirits were high and we were very proud and impressed with our Senior leaders poi ability, as well as the efforts of tauira and kaiako who gave the longest place name in the world a go “Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu”.

Ka mau te wehi ā kei runga noa atu koutou ngā kaiako me ngā tauira o Mana Kāreti !

Kia Kaha Te Reo Māori !!!
