Te Hurihanganui

Robert Stratford —

Nga mihi nui ki a koutou,

Mana College has a focus on developing culturally responsive classrooms. This means we have a range of initiatives to help teachers use students' voices, strengths and passions to develop better teaching and learning.

A key aspect of our work is linked to a new Ministry initiative called Te Hurihanganui. You can read more about Te Hurihanganui pilot through this link.

As part of Te Hurihanganui, we have a range of initiatives for professionally developing teachers. In addition, there is also a programme which specifically supports family members to actively contribute to culturally responsive (non-racist) teaching.

The whanau-based initiative involves participants working through in a 'blended learning' programme in 2021 involving wananga (overnight stays at a marae) and online learning. By signing up for this initiative you will be really putting your hand up to work with the school staff to make changes at the school. You can read more about the blended learning programme through this website - https://poutamapounamu.org.nz/elearning/about
If you have any other questions, or are interested in joining this free learning programme, please contact Dr Rob (Assistant Principal) - roberts@mana.school.nz
