Principal's Message

John Murdoch —

It has been a good week at Mana College with a number of positive experiences.  Thank you to all parents and whānau who attended out Y9 BBQ on Wednesday night.  It was a great turn out to share kai and stories of our Y9 camp.  Our introduction to Mauri Ora planning was also important to highlight, with Learning Conferences coming up on the 24th March.  These conferences run for each student at Mana College and are an opportunity to discuss and share goals for learning and achievement in 2023.

Mana College proudly participated in the Regional Ki o Rahi tournament on Wednesday and Thursday with our Senior Mixed and Senior Boys both placing 2nd.  Congratulations to our mixed team who have qualified for Nationals.

On Thursday the Kahui Whetū o Porirua Champs was held where six schools in Porirua competed in an athletics meet for the trophy.  Mana College won the event and the event was a great way to highlight some of the talent a the school with Western Zone coming up.

We are very proud of our very own Kamiria Keelan-Demuth who represented her whanu, competing in this years Te Matarini Kapa Haka Festival

It is important to be mindful of our shared responsibility for attendance at school.  We've had a good start but some poor routines and patterns are starting to show in regards to lateness, attendance and readiness  for learning.

We need to focus on ākonga being present, participating and progressing in school, especially after the last three years.

Parents, caregivers and whānau should receive a txt on the day if their child or young people have not turned up to school.  Currently this early notification is coming out to you around 10am.

If your child is absent or late please notify the school on 04 2375424 or by downloading our school app http://manacollege.apps.school.nz/share/

You can check attendance on our school portal which at the beginning of the year you should have been emailed a login.

Our Learning Advisors or Deans will be in touch if their attendance patterns are under 90% but it is a team effort to monitor this.

First set of engagement reports for the year will be sent out this afternoon. Reminder to check your spam and if you do not recieve contact the office.
