The tournament began with a bang, with Manawatu College beating Horowhenua College 34–0.

The second game saw Manawatu playing the top team, Kapiti College. Kapiti, proving why they're in the number one spot, won the game 42–0.

The third and final game of the Sevens tournament saw Manawatu College lose by a very narrow margin to Otaki College. That meant two wins from three games. Unfortunately, this knocked them out of contention for the top spot.
