Logan receives the Arts Faculty Cup for all the work he has done in his role as Arts Captain. Logan worked on all Arts events throughout the year and was one of the chief fundraisers and participant in this year’s Stage Challenge

This trophy is awarded for overall excellence within

Te Ao Maori to JAMES BIRCH.

James has taken the opportunity to develop leadership skills in customary process and has developed his Te Reo ability exceptionally well. He has maintained our College Paepae and also brought in Manuhiri (Narita). James’s development has caught the attention of this whanau and he has welcomed honorary national leaders to his Marae, Sir Tipene O’Reagan and Sir Mark Solomon.

2017 SPORT EXCELLENCE AWARD

The Frost Cup

The Sports Excellence Award – The Frost Cup – is awarded to the student who has been acknowledged at the highest level in a single sports code.

This year the Frost Cup is awarded to SAMANTHA HANSEN

Sam is a goal-orientated achiever and has achieved at the highest levels in her sport of Olympic Weightlifting. Sam sets forth plans for success in training, competition and her schooling, implementing those plans to achieve success.

She has recently gained selection into the NZ Olympic Weightlifting team for the Pacific Mini games in Vanuatu. Currently ranked number one in NZ for both the under-63kg and under-69kg junior women’s categories in weightlifting. Sam also holds the junior 63kg Clean & Jerk and Total NZ records.

The Sportperson of the Year Award recognises the most outstanding student who has participated and achieved in a range of sporting pursuits at the College.

This year our Sportsperson of the Year is

SAMANTHA HANSEN.

Sam has not only competed and achieved in Weightlifting over the last year, but she has also competed in:

· Crossfit – 2nd in the Granite Games USA in September in her category

- In the winning MANA team at the NZ Nationals

· ¼ Iron Maori Triathlon

· Inter-secondary Cross Country, where she was placed 7th this year
