Educational Trust Makes A Heavyweight Contribution

At the beginning of March, Manawatu College Educational Trust Chairperson, Mr. John Maher, presented the student representative on the Educational Trust, David Cleary, with a cheque for $3,000  to be used to purchase specialised weightlifting equipment. 

Manawatu College Educational Trust Incorporated celebrated its AGM on March 22nd. The annual report presented to members revealed disbursements of $11,200.00 in the year under review, being:

  • $4,500.00 for computer Chrome Books;
  • $3,000.00 towards stage two of the upgrade of gym facilities; and
  • $3,700.00 for an electronic drum kit for the music department.

Disbursements since inception in 1985 now exceed $115,000.00. The capital fund, protected in perpetuity, now exceeds $83,000.00. Increasing this to $100,000.00 is the Trust Board’s next goal.

Manawatu College Educational Trust Incorporated is a charitable society. Membership of this society is open to any person, including companies.

Anyone is  welcome to apply for membership of the society. All membership subscriptions are added to the protected capital fund. Only the net income arising from this fund may be disbursed. All subscriptions qualify for a tax credit for the member because the society is a registered charity. Membership is available for as little as $10.00 per year. If you are interested in advancing the education of pupils of the college, please consider membership of this charitable society. Members need not attend meetings; stewardship of the society resting with a Trust Board. This is a successful society. You could make it more successful by joining it.
