Te Whare Moemoea Noho

Mana Media —

Our year 9 and 10 Te Whare Moemoea homeroom students spent their first two days of college at Paranui Marae for an overnight noho, supported by senior Maori Studies students.

The group's first task was to tautoko our previous Deputy Principal, Mr Gilbert Hokianga, as he was welcomed into his new role as Deputy Principal at Queen Elizabeth College in Palmerston North. During the stay at Paranui Marae, the students learned about tikanga and kawa, heard some local stories, shared their pepeha, visited Tangimoana Beach and made connections with their peers and teachers.

Overall it was a valuable experience that has helped set the tone for the year.
