Manawatu College students attend Sir Peter Blake Trust NZ Leadership Forum in Palmerston North.

Mana Media —

On Wednesday 5th July, 22 of our year 12 & 13 student leaders participated in a regional senior school 'Dream Team' leadership forum with 330 others to mark the Sir Peter Blake Trust NZ Leadership Week.

The Sir Peter Blake Trust Dream Team is a group of inspirational Kiwi leaders who every year aim to inspire thousands of Kiwi kids to follow their dreams. The Dream Team includes high-profile New Zealanders, such as Parris Goebel, Sophie Pascoe, Jerome Kaino and Steve Dunstan, as well as CEOs, adventurers, scientists, business leaders and entertainers. They visit schools to tell their stories, plant seeds of inspiration, and encourage young New Zealanders to have big dreams and back themselves to make them happen.

This years forum was hosted at Palmerston North Boys High School and the focus was 'Character, Change, Leadership - developing your potential to shape the world'.

The theme for 2017's programme was #believeyoucan, which is taken directly from Sir Peter’s last voyage when he wrote, ‘To win, you have to believe you can do it’.   The trust wants to encourage all Kiwis to back themselves to achieve their dreams - just as Sir Peter Blake did.

The students found the day educational and inspirational.  They got to meet other young people from the region as well as listen to some quality presentations.
