Year 13 Camp 2019

Mana Media —

On Monday 25th March, a group of 40 Year 13 and International Students set off to the Manawatu College Outdoor Centre in Raurimu.

The camp was planned and organised by the students in the Year 13 Events Management class, who received three  NCEA Level Three credits for their efforts.

On Tuesday the group headed to Turangi to tackle the Vertical Assault Climbing Wall as well as the Tongariro River Walk.  On the way back they stopped at Tokaanu Thermal Pools before heading to camp for dinner, and a night of toasting marshmallows and making smores around a campfire.

On Wednesday the group packed up and set off to Rotorua for the night.  After checking into the Rotorua Downtown Backpackers, they set off to Skyline Skyrides for a day of riding the Gondola, the Luge, The Sky Swing and the Zipline, before a group dinner at Gengy's.

On Thursday the group set off for Motion Entertainment in Rotorua, where they played ten pin bowling, laser tag, the Escape Room and extreme trampolining.  For their last night, the group set off back to camp in Raurimu for a night of Nightline and Trivial Pursuits.

Thank you to Miss Tucker, Mr O'Sullivan, Nathan and Kerry McGhie for ensuring that the camp was a success as well as a huge thank you to everyone in the community who supported the fundraising efforts and donated food for the camp.  The group donated what food they did not use to the Foxton Free Community Pantry.
