JOBFEST 2018

Mana Media —

The first of its kind in our region, jobFEST will provide students with the opportunity to come and spend a couple of hours engaging with the vehicles, tools and information of over 50 businesses from the Logistics, Distribution and Transport industries, including Refrigeration, Warehousing, Logistics, Technical Mechanical and the huge Road Transport sector.

Altogether over 91,000 are involved in these industries.

The Road Transport industry alone employs 37,000 people and a further estimated 15,000 people are indirectly employed to provide services ranging from vehicle equipment and maintenance to legal and accounting services. The Logistics, Distribution and Transport industries generate billions of dollars in turnover each year - yet as career pathways, the potential of job opportunity is not well recognised.

Hands on and interactive, this event will allow the students to see, touch, and get a real feel for what it would be like to work for, and with these employers. Explore options, ask questions and discuss job opportunities. These employers want employees. The country needs 2,800 truck drivers alone every year for the next 10 years – that’s 28,000 people we need with a Class 5 licence.

With 100 jobs being offered on the day, jobFESTs big point of difference is that employers will be there ready and waiting to place people into employment in their own businesses: full-time, part-time, afterschool and holiday jobs along with and some highly coveted cadetships and internships – will all be on offer.
