Our year 12 students take part in the annual RYDA Road Safety Education Workshop.

Mana Media —

RYDA is designed for 16-17-year-olds as they begin to drive or ride in cars driven by their peers. This workshop (part of a broader programme) challenges students to change the way they think about road safety and lay the foundation for safe road use throughout their lives.

RYDA focuses on cognition development, building and increasing social competency and resilience, and motivating low-risk behaviour. The facilitators work with the students to develop and practice personalised strategies and life skills which will help them respond positively to challenges on the road, both as drivers and highly influential passengers.

RYDA is an essential road safety platform for young drivers and their passengers – it doesn’t come from driving lessons, books, or the school classroom.

Here, they experience a live speed and stopping demonstration, practice speaking up and managing their mind-state with fun role plays, talk to driving instructors and police about their responsibilities, and even investigate a real crash by interviewing the survivor.
