Former student Deanna Gunn is a top 20 finalist in the Gwangmyeong Concept Design Competition 2018!

Mana Media —

Now in its fifth year, the competition is a rare opportunity for New Zealand’s next generation of concept designers to get their work noticed.

The New Zealand winner, who wins a trip to South Korea, will be selected by a judging panel featuring Weta Workshop co-founder Richard Taylor and members of Weta Workshop’s Design Studio.

THIS YEAR'S BRIEF, FROM RICHARD TAYLOR

“Imagine that a famous international television producer is making a new series based around a fantastical land on an unknown planet, bearing some resemblance to Earth in the Late Middle Ages.

Your mission is to show him or her what this alien world might look like at that point in time. What sort of architecture, clothing, armour, weapons, and technologies exist? Creatures and characters? Landscapes? Environments? Let your imagination wander as you create an incredible piece of concept art! ”

Deanna's work is currently on display at an exhibition at the Gwangmyeong Caves in South Korea.

Congratulations, Deanna.
